At first, a bubbler shot water straight up into the air, just like a little spout or fountain. The water would bubble up real high, and that’s how it got the name “bubbler.” Can you imagine that? It’d shoot up in the air like a little geyser, and folks could catch the water right there, like a bird takin’ a sip from a puddle. Over time though, they made some changes to the design so it was easier for folks to drink from. In the end, whether you call it a bubbler or a drinking fountain, it’s all the same thing—a way for folks to get a drink of water, nice and clean. And as long as it does the job, I don’t much care what you call it. But I sure do think it’s a good idea to have ’em around, especially when you’re out on a long walk or just out and about on a hot day. Ain’t nothin’ like a cool sip of water to refresh ya, right?
