Okay, so I’ve been craving something easy and tasty lately, and those little smokies sausages always hit the spot. I figured I’d share a few ways I’ve been using them for dinner. They’re so versatile, you know?
First up, the classic: Pigs in a Blanket
This is a no-brainer, right? I just grabbed a can of crescent roll dough and some of those little smokies. I decided to make them bite sized today.

- Unroll the dough and separate it into triangles.
- Cut each triangle into three smaller triangles.
- Place a little smokie at the wide end of each triangle.
- Roll them up, starting from the wide end.
- Bake them according to the instructions on the dough package.
It was so darn easy, and they were gone in minutes! My family loves them, so I have to make a ton, haha.
Next, something a bit heartier: Little Smokies and Beans
I was feeling something a bit more substantial, so I whipped up this little concoction. I basically just threw some stuff in a pot and let it simmer. So I had a can of baked beans, but you can use any beans you like. Then it was time to open the pack of little smokies and dice them into thirds. After that, I added some barbecue sauce for sweetness, and a bit of mustard for tang.
- Dump everything into a pot.
- Stir it up.
- Simmer it on low heat for like, 20 minutes.
Served it up with some cornbread, and it was a winner! It’s like a cowboy’s dream or something. Cheesy, but true.
Finally, a little fancy: Little Smokies in a Creamy Sauce
Okay, this one sounds fancier than it is. I wanted something a little different, so I made a quick creamy sauce. I melted some butter in a pan and added some flour, then added chicken broth, then finally, some heavy cream. I seasoned it with salt, pepper, and a dash of garlic powder.
- Cook the little smokies until they’re browned.
- Make the creamy sauce.
- Combine the smokies and the sauce.
- Serve over pasta or rice.
It was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. It felt a little more “grown-up” than the other dishes, but still super easy to make. That’s all I have for now, but I’ll probably experiment with more little smokie recipes. It is kind of addicting using them!
