Okay, so, I’ve been seeing these Dutch oven desserts all over the internet, and I finally decided to give one a try. I’m not much of a baker, to be honest, but these looked so simple and yummy that I figured, why not? I grabbed my trusty Dutch oven that I usually use for stews and soups.
First, I went and gathered all the ingredients. Since I wanted something fruity, I decided to make a fruit cobbler because I saw a recipe online that used only four ingredients, which was perfect for me. I’m all about that easy life, you know? I grabbed some canned fruit cocktail, a box of yellow cake mix, a stick of butter, and some cinnamon.

Next, I dumped the canned fruit into the Dutch oven. I didn’t even bother to drain it because the recipe said the juices would help create a nice sauce. Then, I sprinkled the dry cake mix evenly over the fruit. After that, I sliced the butter into thin pats and arranged them on top of the cake mix. Finally, I dusted everything with a generous amount of cinnamon.
- Canned Fruit
- Cake Mix
- Butter
- Cinnamon
I popped the lid on the Dutch oven and placed it in my preheated oven. I think I baked it for about 45 minutes at 350 degrees, or until the top was golden brown and bubbly. You could smell the sweet, cinnamon-y goodness all through the house. My mouth was watering, I’m not gonna lie.
Once it was done, I carefully removed the Dutch oven from the oven and let it cool for a bit. I was so impatient, though! I scooped out a big serving into a bowl, and oh my goodness, it was heavenly. The fruit was all warm and gooey, the cake topping was buttery and crisp, and the cinnamon tied everything together. It was like a warm hug in a bowl.
My Simple Dessert
Honestly, this Dutch oven dessert was a game-changer. It was so easy to make, and the results were incredible. I’ll definitely be trying out other Dutch oven recipes in the future. Maybe next time I’ll try something with chocolate. Who am I kidding, it will probably still be a cobbler. I think I’ll go make another batch right now!
