Okay, so I got this idea the other day to try and list out a bunch of desserts that start with the letters “ap”. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, let me tell you, it turned into a whole thing. I started off just brainstorming, scribbling down anything that came to mind.
First, I grabbed a pen and paper, ’cause I’m old school like that. Then I just started jotting down words.

- “Apple pie,” obviously, that’s a classic.
- “Apricot tart” came to me pretty quickly too.
I was feeling good, like, “This is easy!” But then, I hit a wall. I mean, how many desserts can you really think of that start with “ap”?
I started pacing around my kitchen, opening and closing the fridge, hoping for some kind of divine inspiration, or maybe just a snack. Nothing. My mind was totally blank. I even tried humming some tunes, thinking maybe that would jog my memory. Nope, still nothing.
So, I pulled out my phone and started searching online. I typed in “desserts that start with ap” and, well, let’s just say the internet is a weird and wonderful place. There were some filled with luscious mousses, creamy caramels, and I saw some health-related things that really had nothing to do with desserts. I scrolled and scrolled, clicking on random stuff, but most of it was just, well, not what I was looking for.
Then, I decided to get a bit more specific with my searches. I tried things like “apple desserts” and “apricot desserts” and that helped a bit. I found some interesting recipes, like:
- “Apple crisp”
- “Apple strudel,” which I’ve always wanted to try making.
I even stumbled upon something called an “Apricot clafoutis.” Sounds fancy, right?

After a while, I had a pretty decent list going. I wrote everything down, feeling a bit more accomplished. It wasn’t a huge list, but it was more than I had at the beginning, so that’s something.
I guess the lesson here is that even simple ideas can turn into a bit of an adventure. And sometimes, you just gotta dig a little deeper to find what you’re looking for, whether it’s a dessert recipe or just, you know, something to satisfy your brain.
My final list of “ap” desserts:
- Apple pie
- Apricot tart
- Apple crisp
- Apple strudel
- Apricot clafoutis
Not bad for an afternoon’s work, huh? I ended up making an apple pie. It turned out pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
