Alright, let’s talk about them sweet treat places in Nashville, you know, the ones where you can get somethin’ good to eat after supper or whenever you feel like it. I ain’t no fancy food critic or nothin’, but I know what tastes good, and I’m gonna tell ya ’bout some places I heard are real good.
First off, there’s this place called Mattheessen’s. Folks say they got all sorts of goodies, real pretty-like, you know, the kind you’d take to a church picnic or somethin’. I ain’t been there myself, but my neighbor Sally Mae, she went there once and said their stuff is mighty fine. She had some kinda cake, I think, said it was the best she ever ate. So, that’s one place to check out if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ sweet.

Then there’s Baked on 8th. Now, that name, it tells ya somethin’ right there, don’t it? They bake stuff, and they’re on 8th Street, I reckon. Anyways, I heard they got cookies and pies and all sorts of baked things. My grandson, Billy, he likes cookies somethin’ fierce, so I might have to take him there one of these days. Kids, they always know where the good treats are, you know?
And then there’s this Tennessee Cobbler Company. Cobbler, now that’s somethin’ I know about. My mama used to make the best peach cobbler you ever did taste. This place, they probably got all kinds of cobblers, apple, blackberry, maybe even cherry. If they got a good peach cobbler, I’ll be happy as a pig in mud. Nothin’ better than a warm cobbler with a scoop of ice cream on top, let me tell ya.
Now, Five Daughters Bakery, that’s a name you hear a lot around here. They got somethin’ called a 12south, I think. Don’t know what that is, but it must be good if everyone’s talkin’ ’bout it. They probably got donuts too, and maybe some of them fancy pastries, like them cronuts or whatever they call ’em. Sally Mae was talkin’ ’bout those cronuts once, said they were like a donut and a croissant all mixed together. Sounded kinda strange to me, but she liked ’em, so they must be alright.
- Dulce Desserts: Folks say this place got some real fancy pastries, the kind you’d eat at a weddin’ or somethin’. I ain’t never been to a fancy weddin’, but I bet their desserts are good.
- D’Andrews Bakery + Cafe: This place, they got coffee and pastries. Good place to sit and relax, I reckon. I like a good cup of coffee with my dessert, don’t you?
- The Butter Milk Ranch: Now, that sounds like a place that knows how to cook. Buttermilk, that’s good stuff. I bet they got some real down-home desserts, like pies and cakes and maybe even banana puddin’. Oh, I love banana puddin’!
And then there’s Adele’s. That’s a fancy name, ain’t it? I heard they got good food all around, not just desserts. But if their desserts are as good as the rest of their food, then they must be somethin’ special. I ain’t got the money to eat at fancy places like that too often, but maybe I’ll treat myself one day.
The Pancake Pantry, that’s another place people talk about. Pancakes ain’t exactly dessert, but they can be if you put enough syrup and whipped cream on ’em. And I bet they got other sweet things too, like waffles and maybe even some kinda sweet bread. I do like a good waffle every now and then.

Dozen Bakery, well, that name tells you what they got, don’t it? A dozen of somethin’, probably donuts or cookies or somethin’ like that. You can’t go wrong with a dozen donuts, I always say. Enough to share with the whole family, or just keep ’em all to yourself, if you’re feelin’ greedy.
E3 Chophouse, that sounds like a place for meat, not sweets. But I heard they got some good desserts too, maybe some kinda fancy chocolate cake or somethin’. I ain’t a big fan of chocolate, but Billy, he loves it, so maybe I’ll take him there one day. He’s always tryin’ to get me to buy him somethin’ sweet.
And last but not least, there’s Arnold’s Country Kitchen. Now, that sounds like my kind of place. Country cookin’ is the best kind of cookin’, if you ask me. They probably got some good pies and cobblers, the kind that stick to your ribs and make you feel all warm and cozy inside. That’s the kind of dessert I like.
So, there you have it, a whole bunch of places in Nashville where you can get somethin’ sweet. I ain’t been to all of ’em, but I heard they’re all pretty good. So, go on out there and try ’em for yourself, and let me know what you think. And if you find a place that’s got a really good peach cobbler, you be sure to tell me, you hear?
